Smaull Song 2009
Smaull is a remote farm in the beautiful northwest of the Hebridean island of Islay. During the year, Philip and Briar Maxwell, who live at Smaull, host gatherings when people come together to pursue common interests.
In addition to the main farmhouse at Smaull, there is a cottage for visitors and a renovated byre containing two studios/workspaces with excellent acoustics.
In 2009, Smaull Song will comprise the annual week-long Singing Course in August, plus a parallel singing course for local Islay singers.
On the music staff, we welcome back eminent song specialist Richard Jackson for his third year, and founder members Mary Hill, Sheila McGrow and Paschal Allen. In addition we welcome Russell Smythe, who currently teaches and lectures at the Royal College of Music, London, and gives workshops in Britain and abroad.
